Socks in the Frying Pan comprises two brothers, Shane and Fiachra Hayes as well as Aodán Coyne. This young trad trio from Country Clare blend Irish traditional melodies with and innovative rhythmic and melodic garnish. Having gained afan-base from four years of gigging around the west of Ireland, the group have recently began branching out with their
modern traditional style and energetic approach to music. This, combined with acoustic musical interplay, three-part harmonies and an obvious love for live performances,
compliments the traditional essence of both tune and songs in a fresh and entertaining way.
Socks in the Frying Pan started their US tour with their first trip to Colorado Irish Fest, followed by a return trip to the Cleveland Irish Festival. They then tore the house down at Dayton where they are booked each year to headline the Traditional Stage while Gaelic Storm headlines the other stage each year. Irish Fair in Minnesota.
The guys took a break from their US tourto come home and play their headline show at the Shannon Aerodome (Big Top) at Fleadh Cheoil in Ennis this month, with a capacity of 2000 people, their biggest Irish show to date which they sold out.
They were invited to play atTonder Festival in Denmark this Summer. The festival is one of the most prominent festivals for traditional and modern folk music in Europe. Around 2000 volunteers help at the festival. The program is composed of international artists from Ireland, Scotland, Canada, United States, England and Scandinavia. The genres vary from Irish and Scottish folk music to Nordic and Baltic folk music and songs. Amongst the artists who have visited the festival are Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle, Pete Seeger, Arlo Guthrie, Great Big Sea, Saw Doctors, Natalie MacMaster, Mary Black, Wilco, Ramblin Jack Elliot, The Chieftains, Altan. Lucinda Williams, Loudon Wainwright, Mark Cohn and Altan are some of the headliners this year.
After a return to the US where they Play Kansas City Irish Festival andWalnut Valley Festival in KS for the third year in a row, Socks will then spend October and November on their biggest tour of Switzerland and Germany.
2018 continues with more announcements as they embark on their biggest Performing Arts Centre Tour yet in the US, taking in Florida, Las Vegas and their first tour of Alaska.
